Differences in consistency/viscosity of the oils

Blog oil specification

Question

I noticed that the newer oils (Wings of Rapture, Almine’s Secret Garden 2 and I believe also Flight of the Falcon) are much thinner in consistency (more watery) than the older oils … it almost goes more towards an essential oil …

Answer

We have found Essential oils (we get a few from India) are actually usually thicker. Young Living Oil’s rose essential oil for instance is so thick, it’s a jelly and needs to be heated to be usable.
As for our oil inventory, the thickness vary widely, depending on the botanical source. The American red and white rose oils are for instance thicker than wild rose oil or tea rose oil; also thicker than the Ottoman Rose oil we get from India. But not as thick as the Moroccan rose oil.
Pear oil is substantially thinner than mandarin orange, and when we use the latter, we sometimes have to attach a little tag that says “shake before using”.
